Please check your child’s binder to see exactly what your child is to know about geometry. This tells what we have been working on for the past month. It has probably been awhile since you have had to do any school geometry, so have your child explain what each means. Also ask what your child what a reflex angle is. We will be working this week on finding the area of a parallelogram and a triangle using a formula the next two weeks.
Current Events:
What do you call this year…”twenty ten” or “two thousand ten”? We had quite a discussion on this subject this morning. Think about other years, such as 1906 or 1776 or 1492 or 1800. Just kind of interesting how numbers are read differently, depending on their usage.
Which twin will have bragging right…the twin who was born on Dec. 31, 2009 at 11:59 PM or the one who was born Jan. 1, 2010 at 12:01 AM. Can you imagine having twins born on not only different days, but different years and decades.
The tallest building was open this past week. Can you find out how tall it is (in both feet and miles) and how many stories tall it is? Also, how long it takes to get up by way of an elevator and how fast it travels?
You all have a parent teacher conference scheduled. If you do not remember your day and time, please call th office to check on it.
Conference are tight this year, so please be here on time. Most conferences are 20 minutes in length. A few people have longer conference times.
Your child brought a lime green half sheet which had the school day times listed. REMEMBER: This Thursday (11/19) and next Monday (11/23) are half days. Conferences run Monday afternoon and early evening, all day into the evening on Tuesday and half day on Wednesday. Regular school will resume on Monday, November 30th.
See you for conferences.

What a great turn out for our Fall Family Math Night! My station was the “Puff Mobile” station. WOW! Did we ever have a lot of girls build “Puff Mobiles.” The top winner in the race was Kayley who took first place in the Puff Mobile Races. Kayley is new to Arcadia and a member of our class. Way to go Kayley and her co-builder, her dad. Second place went to Elli’s sister Lily, a third grader and third place went to Natasha a fourth grader. Way to go girls! Adah won the Snickers in the estimating jar with the correct estimation of 38. Hope to see all of you in the Spring for our second “Family Math” Night.
FAMILY Math Tuesday. This and much, much more! Hot Dog Dinner at 5:30. Math at 6:00.
