Fractions and Decimals

We will be working on adding and subtracting fractions and decimals as well as finding the Least Common Multiple (LCM)  and the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) for the next two months.  Anytime you see fractions, decimals or percents in the real world, please point it out to your child, so they see math in the real world.  Watch for some key math words to pop-up on our class web site.

Examples:  improper fractions, whole numbers and mixed numbers

The Olympics

My husband and I will be attending part of the winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC.  We will leave Deer Park the morning of Feb. 24th and I will be back at school March 3rd.  My husband is both Canadian and a former hockey player, so we are thrilled to be able to get tickets and attend the semi-finals of hockey.  Mrs. Klotz will be here that week for me.

A Delicious Thank You!

Feburary 11, 2010…Today Adah and Chance’s mothers can in to our class and helped us make cinnamon rolls for our Valentine’s Party this afternoon.  If was fun to see the flour a flying, the eggs cracking up and the kneading of the dough.  Of course the best part was the eating of the cinnamon rolls.  Thank you Moms for your help.  :)

January Principal Pride

Chance, Anna and Ashley were our January Principal Pride Award winners.  All three got it for effort and academic excellences.  All three are very strong math thinkers and work hard each day to excell.  Way to go, you three.
